printing out the writing I did several months ago, the simple act of it felt good somehow, like having the words materialise as a physical form surged a sort of quiet power through them, one with a slightly different vein to reading the words on a digital screen. I think I might want to experiment with having those words (writing is the easy part, most times, at least it comes naturally almost like automatic writing) materialise in various forms whether it be phototransferred or screenprinted or handwritten or... Something.
I think there is also the possibility of building a drawing through words, but through thea reading of the words you get the image, or perhaps a diagram. when i went to the tate recently there was one work that dealt with the opposite, I guess, of that, of not reading the words as words but regarding them as 'image' which I found quite interesting. it's the whole 'creating meaning' thing again maybe.
but it is true, regarding text as a piece of work, there's something really amazing and wonderful about that, it feels like I am able to make something out of nothing, 'make the impossible at least considerable'. I am also able to build a lot of work through text too. and of course, the dissertation is exactly that as well, though I am struggling to get it going. but it will happen. it has to.
after talking to erika about my ISA and also a bit about my practice/essay I feel quite inspired to use unrealised projects/proposals or language as a piece of work - that sort of conceptual idea really interests me and it excites me to try and pin point something that is never meant to be pin pointed. as erika said about impossible proposals, you can't fail cos you can't achieve it... and in that way it is inherently a genuis, strong-standing piece of work, and I find that incredibly amusing and profound, which is exactly what I am interested in.
it has already been a few weeks since we returned to this second academic year and I haven't really done anything, my mind has been scattered... but now... I feel that quiet power surge through again, more so through writing, it's like somebody (I) disconnected the cord a few months ago, and all it took was to connect it again for it to start up again. I hope I get through this..
I will attach my tutorial form with marc here when it's done..
