Family Romance, LLC | In Conversation with Werner Herzog | MUBI

(around 5-6mins) fundamental question for human existence. what is lie what is truth. everything in the film is a lie or is performative. everything is staged. everything is not true and yet, it has a truth and its strange enough, of course we have to ask ourselves about our own lives, how much of our own lives is performative. the real big question is how much truth is in all this and how much fake is sometimes necessary, benign element for human survival.

(performative/act/staged.. like diorama.. like everyday life.. and through the screen/glass? experienced as artificial foliage or robot fish? documentary as concrete evidence, even doubt this, life archive? not through my pov but my old camera's pov, its memory.. which also degrades over time which doesn't make sense.)

----- (around 4:30) robot fish in an aquarium....(about other robots) 'heartbreakingly beautiful and it touches the heart although you know it is a little machine. not so much industrial robots...but companion robots.

(around 13:10) Q: in a world where, possibly everyone is playing a role or everyone is renting somebody to stand-in for another human being, how can we find out, whose love is true, what relationships are real? -well, it's difficult since the dawn of man. in my life, until today, two things that guide me to the essentials of real life, 'pura vida', it's a mexican saying, it's not purity of life, it's essential, saturated, wonderful, full life. one is travelling on foot, but nobody does it so I cannot really advise it, I mean long distance travelling on foot, and I would do it.. I'm a lazy bum like everyone else, I do it for existentially important reasons. I travelled on foot once from munich to paris because an old woman I mentor was dying and I would like to see her die and I walked on against it, those are the reasons why I would travel on foot. and the other one, and again I will speak to deaf ears is reading. read. I do not see many films but I do read. and those who use too much of their cellphones and social media, they don't read anymore. I mean, they read tweets or so but, not cohesive, deep reading, of an eight hunded page tolstoy novel for example. so I keep.. into filmmakers and anyone, who is in medical profession or architecture, I say read read read read read, then after that watch a few movies.
