paper engineering/pop-up/origami in space

after the adobe max conference I got introduced to the designer kelli anderson who had a really great session and was really inspiring in some of the questions she raised (like: why are we still so drawn to low fi tech when we're surrounded by high tech etc.) afterwards I also caught her live q&a on instagram, which was really helpful as well, knowing more about her practice and research.

it got me interested in wanting to try low-fi technologies like playing with paper. I really want to make things that don't take up too much space + inexpensive. she has published this camera in a book - made of paper - that actually works, which I found fascinating.

from her instagram I also found yoojin's account who works as a designer for paper pop-ups - which I was really interested in too.

from her interview posted on instagram I also found Manan arya who has devoted his research to using origami structures in spacecraft // the idea of needing to fit things to minimise space taken but also expanding out to a maximised space (isolation??) (also thinking back to my research into nasa's golden disk)
