to display these personal documentations of the 'world' - what does this mean? what does this mean for the viewer walking into this space? is it a room you can walk into, should it feel like a gallery space? or should I make pathetic attempts to mimic artificial nature with taxidermy and fake foliage? how big is this space, is it crowded to feel immersive or overwhelming like how I feel in front of dioramas? should the 'glass' panel be present somehow - like a bell jar containing life forms that once breathed and may still be breathing? should nature images be behind glass? would all of this take away from the drawing - and would these digital drawings be printed out or stay digital? perhaps I could have a space where there is a large window and garden outside. perhaps I could place my drawings in a virtual or film space. how do I emphasise the narrative of stumbling upon this pandemic planet? should I use text and narrate it? for each drawing? in two different ways - one of my supposed 'journey' and one of the story I make up from just observing/travelling in the drawing after its completion to emphasise the manipulation of 'truth' or fiction and how this is completely valid too? should I cover the walls with 'nature' images blown up.. with drawings collaged over it...should these be in colour or black and white or both?...
the ideas pile endlessly and I have been constantly overwhelmed by possibilities in these past few weeks. it is hard to get a clear idea of the future when you aren't even caught up to the present.
I think to to have the answers to all these possibilities of the proposal I need to really think about what the focus should be in this particular show. if I try to do all the things - try to encompass every idea I have about all of this it would be too chaotic. I think I do want it to have a focus on
-nature/culture dilemma - including nature images through screen (which could be printed, collaged) taxidermy (including powell-cotton images, which could be blown up)
-narrative of me/viewer stumbling upon this (pandemic) planet/island/place (in isolation, perhaps abandoned , seems like time is temporarily still or ambiguous, maybe dreamlike) full of fascinating and horrific things (including injustices and voyager images, exploration even out of this planet)
-documentation of these things through photographic and painting and drawing (probably majority) and in an unorganised format - like the live collage zoë suggested in my interim, like monster chetwynd's show..
visually, some ideas to consider right now (other ones like virtual tours seem a bit hard/not suitable to do right now)
-big windows with nature outside (like lisbon galleries x 2 or, small windows like in Paula rego museum)
- clean white cube type space? (Paula rego museum had very large rooms - first room had sculpture too and worked really well. the drawing room was also lovely with seemingly endless framed drawings lining the walls, didn't feel too crowded - the drawings were also white paper so overall very clean but when you looked closely the figures and lines are very animated and alive contained in this paper/frame)
-how large/small, or both, and is this space square or rectangular or? even curved
finding it hard right now because to make the work I need to know what kind of display I want to some extent, but it is also true vice versa - to know what kind of display I want I need to know what work I have - which I don't have a lot of right now. going to drop some ideas from other artists here..

ideas from looking at above (in order)
-really like how the rich colours especially red stand out against the white -cage in a white cube space (relating to 1Q84 quote) you can walk into, you can choose to walk in and walk out, a privilege
-a white structure like that in a gallery space with some huge creature on top, like an extinct moa
-a literal cabinet (perhaps with a table and chair) displaying the postcards I made, digital drawings (perhaps printed and propped up), text - of narratives mentioned, hand written, volcano painting at top or middle. perhaps fake foliage under table or something. or this whole thing surrounded by glass structure, with nature sounds from voyager.
-imagine this room sized..I like the wood fixings of the glass.
-the octagon... I just love this display..almost fake/real feeling
-lucy mckenzie's display at the cabinet (which zoë mentioned in my interim) spurred a whole lot of new ideas - use of tables and cabinets and chairs.. glass table top.. dust sheet?
I just took some mock photos of my room and our living room to see what space we have in our flat.
I'm sort of inspired by the table that was already here in our flat... I might play around with this..
