I started this drawing without really planning. drawing from imagination, especially when you know there's a place you really want to represent, is really difficult and I've learnt that it's best to use some reference images like how I would in a collage. I did use a figure of myself - these screenshots from a video of me trying out different poses when I'm thinking of the dream - and that helped - but I had no real idea of what the rest looked like, to be honest, just a vague idea of purple ish hills and that's it. maybe some leaves... I learnt my lesson of using reference images if I really wanted to achieve a believable landscape. now it just kind of looks like mush. but I enjoyed playing with the face... (thought it is a bit similar to janiva ellis' style) I might come back to this and improve on the clarity at some point... I almost like the original minute of drawing it out in this '6B pencil'. the only other reference image I used was the Japanese makeup advert I looked at last year, the colours in it. anyway, it's looking pretty bad right now and honestly I am not sure how to save it apart from almost starting again.
