With the current ‘recommendation’ of closure of places like the museum, Sarah was emailing us earlier this week that the show might not open this week on Thursday as scheduled. The photos of the display she sent looked amazing and I was excreted to see it in person this week - but as of yesterday the museum has closed for the next few weeks - which is definitely for the best. The good news is, the exhibit will still be shown after it re-opens... Sarah has been very supportive and letting us know that she’s dedicated to getting our work shown and have the time it deserved which I appreciate a lot. Yesterday was also when we were told to go to the studios to collect our things to work on at home - and I actually didn’t have anything to bring back, my panels were too big and I was not prepped for painting yet. And this window is perfect for catching up with the mountain of work in my research journal, right here. I also have to prep for my paintings, which I’ve been meaning to do but somehow never had the time. It’s funny, it takes being forced indoors to get to some things sometimes. I always get things done but I hate the guilt that drags with you everyday as you don’t achieve the to-do list you carry. Anyway, I’m glad things worked out this way so we can all be safer and keep others safe too. We are currently not going outside unless we absolutely have to.
But anyway, it hasn’t hit me yet that I’m really in this exhibition. I suppose I should be proud, it’s definitely one of the victories. It is really sweet that some people like elena and sophia and other friends outside of uni said they’d come and see it, it means a lot. And I know everyone’s work in the display is amazing too. Hanne’s one is about the actual process, I’m intrigued to see it in person. I heard she even has a mechanical page flipper installed (?). it’s a shame that it’s not open right now, but I’m also glad it is not. The anxiety and need to keep everyone safe is too real right now. I can’t wait for this to be over and we can try and get over the issues (like timing of our course and MA’s and contracts etc) afterwards.
