domestic landscapes/looking at nature indoors

I've always observed certain moments whilst being inside, the possible domestic landscapes, miniature, when you look at things from certain angles, especially when the sunlight comes in. and with this quarantine there's more landscapes than ever. the other day I had fun photographing this bit on my bed that looked like a beach, with waves coming in. and I was playing with reflections of the colours on my hand and duvet on the silky pillowcase... in foundation, I remember doing a quick painting looking at the duvet crease too. I just love imagining a landscape from something miniature, like I can control the framing of the scope of what I'm seeing. sort of relating to scale, like in *the lovely bones, where things are out of scale in susie's in-between. anyway, I was thinking of this really cheesy metaphor - when I saw that the sunlight always manages to come in even when the blinds are closed (and for me they're always closed, I'm paranoid) - that there's always hope (sunlight) even when everything seems lost/dark (behind the blinds)...

a beach...

shadows have so much character

I like to imagine this is a window ledge of a building or something..

miscellaneous things... makes me think back to ideas
I had surrounding personal possessions... how much
do they make up who you are...and who you are without
those things..they are like decorations surrounding you

the quick ink drawing I did in foundation from duvet creases that I thought of as landscape

on my instagram I've been posting pictures that related to what I'm thinking about in my studio practice, especially in my last two posts -

'Just Like The Great Outdoors'
I took this in the Wimbledon library - when I was working on the computer when it transitioned from daylight to night - and the desktop changed from daytime to nighttime as well (I didn't realise it did that) and of course I was thinking about 'nature' again... how things around us constantly mimics or simulates the outdoors... and looking at this large serene desktop, is almost better than the outside, it is so serene.. 'perfect'... anyway, I also like the reflections on the screen and window behind as well...just so many layers, a natural collage... sometimes I think the digital gives us so much more, but not more as in better but more as in different... it is a strange feeling, just like geraint said, it's just a realisation of what you know you're looking at, but no particular distaste or liking...

in this picture you can see more of the real trees outside and my mouse
in the desktop... how similar are the colours of the sky...

I then posted this pic from my few days in nagoya, japan in the summer, my view from peeking through the hotel curtains:

'Months On End
(view through the hotel curtains of japan in the heat of the summer..
nature in the city is so brilliantly green, starry-eyed against cinderblock shades)'

just a strange feeling, and felt like it's a perfect time to look back at this picture because obviously we are all looking at the outside (mostly) instead of being in it. Not that I go outside for the great outdoors a lot in my normal day to day life, I quite enjoy being inside and looking out... I'm gonna talk about the brilliant 'GREEN' in *another blog post.. (30.3.20)

here are some other photos of looking from that hotel window...

really like this one, sort of like looking down at a miniature model, the sun shining
on it is so relentless and beautiful, the cars so simple, the lines on the road makes so much sense...

like they're having a meeting..
