I had my CSM telephone interview this morning (for MA fine art) and it went quite well, it was fun and actually quite useful because he was mainly talking me through my practice which felt more like a tutorial almost. he was talking to me about using collage for painting which is a process that some artists use which can be very successful. I’m really glad he was interested in my process actually, because that is such a major part of what I do.. trying to piece together some things to make a Something... I wish I could remember all the details we talked about. We were talking about the facilities over at the kings cross branch and he was saying how he persuaded one of his students to try screen printing and she loved it so much. I think he said something about blowing up digital images and then making it into a screen print? I don’t remember, but it sounded fascinating. I definitely wanna try more processes in MA. Anyway, I think the collage technique really works well for me, but lately, as I’ve been drawing and doodling more on procreate (seeing as I have much more time now to play around with it) and seeing some shows like how Paula Rego so freely painted those animal figures, it made me want to be bolder without constraints. I want to paint a large painting without tracing first some day. Maybe not now.. I already planned to paint more of my dreams... which is also a worry because I made those two big panels but now I can’t paint them.. we’ll see how it goes.. for now, I’ll try my best in drawing and thinking through my research journal.
