I wanted to create another separate collage that acts as a solo piece in the language project at CSM. after seeing huiping's digital print that she brought into the meeting at holborn, I was super inspired to do a similar print, with the fabric showing in the background. So I sifted through many many photographs I took in past trips and chose two that I found responding to each other somehow. I have already been looking at these two particular images before. I think they, individually, offer a very specific narrative on their own.
I wrote about the meaning etc. which I thought of during and after the collaging. For this kind of thing I think the meaning emerges as a realisation, not something made up on the spot, everything was chosen for a reason, even if you didn't know it yet when you started.
I also combined the two images with the text I was playing around with last time, the whole 'memories make me' thing, imported it from procreate, and loaded in photoshop as a transparent image. oddly, I did like the rabbits I did really fast, I feel they are kind of referencing kitsch/streetwear/more contemporary ideas and I liked having some sort of recognisable drawing in there as well. It was fun deciding where to place these rabbit heads. They are cartoonish, and probably not for everyone, but I feel they fit in there. the result was this below, it was simpler than other collages I've done, but I guess that's what I was aiming for, I was inspired by other artists' digital collages that have only 1 cut or few elements in them, which I will talk about in another post.

I will be printing this image at the CSM printing studio. I went to the Wimbledon one a few weeks ago to ask about the digital printing on fabric but they don't really have the same facilities/material as CSM does. I then recently emailed Kevin from the kings cross printing space and his responses were confusing, he was saying how the biggest screen they can print is very small so id have to do it in sections (maybe there was a miscommunication cause that's not what huiping said was possible) I don't think they are very open to letting students from other campuses use their facilities as they are so busy already. I did successfully print it, I will discuss the results in a future post as well, as I have also done the group print on the same day.
