language art project 1st meeting in holborn

I signed up for this language art project arranged by Karen, who is a language development tutor in UAL, where the aim of the project is to cultivate more cross-college collaborations. I was interested in the 'language' idea also, since I am working now more with text... and I'm glad I joined. We had our very first meeting this evening, where we sort of introduced ourselves, we were the first group meeting on this day (there's other groups meeting on later days). There was a lot of diversity and students across different levels of study. It was great cause I am curious about the other courses as well (especially MA). We played with some word tiles, and went around dropping down answers to the very thought-provoking questions on the tables. They led to great discussions and we kind of split into groups in this way... I was most interested in the question about the 'dream' as I was thinking about it is actually impossible to identify or read any kind of text in a dream (I found this out while I tried out lucid dreaming - it was one of the indications you can look for to realise you're in a dream, thus beginning the lucid dreaming). Anyway, dara had a good idea about creating a creature by installation or something to convey what language is... alison had many ideas about visual language...etc etc. It was all very blurry at the start as we were all throwing around seemingly distant ideas... we made a whatsapp group in the end to progress in the meantime.
