incorporating dorothy into the block painting

After having those ideas surrounding the wizard of oz and 'THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME' I decided to see what it would be like if I added in this element. I admit that it was too fast of a decision, and the result seems like I had a last minute idea and placed her on top of a pre-existing painting, but I sort of like some aspects of it. I also sort of hate other parts of it. The yellow seems really jarring, but so is the yellow brick road. I didn't like how her head turned out, so I removed it altogether to blend with a sort of smoke-like shadow into the background. Perhaps it needs to be put away before being worked on again, but I did very much enjoy the setting up of shapes, photographing them, and collaging a figure in there to create this composition. The use of ink in the beginning to colour the shapes also allowed me to abstract the forms very easily. It is definitely an idea that I will keep exploring.
