I went to see billie eilish on her tour (it was amazing, my first time seeing her performance live). What I like about concerts is that you always get new found appreciation for songs you didn’t think as much about before. This time, apart from every single song she performed, ‘bury a friend’ (new release) was that one song. I’ve only just listened to it for the first time right before the concert, and seeing it performed live like that was incredible.
It really overlaps my ideas of the ‘monster’ as she puts herself in the monster’s mind, personifying its thoughts and feelings.
The horror aesthetic of the music video was largely inspiring as well.
The lyric that rings in your head ‘WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?’ is the last line of the song as well, (also the name of her upcoming debut album) and I think it's genius. It is simple, but poetic and beautiful.
