During the PPD lecture on Wednesday (with phoebe davies, which was really useful) it sparked a collaboration idea for savannah - she had previously told me about reading the Night Circus (which I haven’t read yet) - and suggested if we should do our own ‘night circus’ with our work. It was a brilliant idea, especially since we are both interested in the same or similar areas such as fantasy or the darker side of things. Also, we seem to always bounce numerous, almost too many ideas and thoughts off of each other every time we talk about something. For instance, our conversation just the day before which spanned for an hour or so went from dreams to aliens to the fourth dimension.
- my murder dreams / how the feeling of being fascinated by the concept e.g. in documentaries is common
- 1, 2, 3, 4th dimension (where ghosts are? aliens?)
- fascinating and mind blowing how there are some concepts that our human consciousness cannot EVEN FATHOM and that is an overwhelming feeling. I think about this sometimes.
- her talking about wanting to be more eco-friendly and ‘earthy’ / plastic pollution and waste
- we all actually have mental ‘issues’? being mentally healthy is just something put in place for us to strive for?
- etc etc.
rough notes from when I was thinking about these ideas:
~~ cirque du freak , nutcracker circus (fourth realm), alice madness returns: landscape and circus scene , music , greatest showman, dumbo, miss peregrine, coraline, resin on cube, collectibles - zoo, something narrative like alec songs, fabric draping print, joan jonas exhibition together, museum of curiosities and horniman,
write down walrus scene , ‘all have the right to be eaten’, rewatch disney alice? > reminds of disney villains in my head that i still remember such as the fox in pinocchio, walrus in horniman and in pingu
the walrus in disney: moocher lazy gluttonous intelligent manipulative pompous
‘the time has come’
pingu episode , nightmare with walrus - fear of marine animals
food stop motion can taste it - like in ghibli
dumbo scene quick transitions that merge into the next is exactly like in my nightmares (video work from dumbo scene? color insp? hallucination.)
