I am always very inspired by reading, and this holiday I finished Alice by Christina Henry and the iconic Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. I've been excited to read Alice because I'm not only very drawn by the original Alice, I also love a lot of the adaptations of it, especially the dark ones.
It was brilliant, much more twisted than I thought, and caused great discomfort at times (especially in rape references) but there was a lot of gore, which I expected. It was also poetic and emotional especially towards the end. The author humanised characters such as the cheshire cat, the caterpillar, which is something I love that artists/authors do.
