Today I was just watching videos on youtube when suddenly an aesthetically intriguing advert came on - I kept on watching, which is rare for an ad - and I was touched, I felt emotional by the end of it! It was really beautiful, a simple concept but done with the atmosphere exactly right. There was also a middle part that looked like stop motion which I love. Turns out it was a shiseido ad from japan...
I kept searching for similar ads after that - and I quite liked this compilation here:
I don't know what it is, there is just something special about these ads, perhaps it's just the beauty of them, the cleanliness, the culture, the language coming through the screen, maybe even subconsciously nostalgic of when I lived / visited japan. Even though I don't understand japanese, it is familiar. Perhaps it is because I watch anime as well. I feel anime is quite underrated sometimes. I find great inspiration from animes - there are wonderful ones that make you feel so many emotions and dig deep in philosophical ideas. On the same night I watched Noragami which also goes along with the ideas I am interested in - and made me cry as well since the plot involved you so much emotionally. I think its just so wonderful, the talented people behind each anime production.
Anyway, I really want to take inspiration of the colours used in these productions, as I often struggle in colour. Perhaps I can use them as guidance for my current painting with the rabbits/wolves/old house.
kyary pamyu pamyu is already an idol I listen and look up to, so I already take inspiration from her ads and videos
