I've always found inspiration from artists like Mark Ryden, who deal with creepy-cute and beautifully painted subject matters. I then searched for more artists who are involved in this art movement: Camille rose Garcia, Gary baseman, Nicoletta ceccoli, ray caesar, naoto hatter, hikari shimoda, Miyazaki, Mia Makila, Tod schorr, etc. I realise while most of these artists deal with surreal imagery with references in pop culture or fairytale fantasies, they are extremely skilled in realism and put an emphasis on it in their works - which is what makes the image so unsettling - it's just so, real. While I admire the realism taking place in these works, such as in ryden's paintings, that is not my painting style at all, although I wish I could paint like that. I will continue to take inspiration from the subject dealt with instead.
