The one-to-one tutorial with Will was very helpful/resourceful. I felt more certain about what I was doing after talking about my work and getting some feedback on it.
- pointed out about the contrast between the neater pen doodles and the rough charcoal drawings (mark-making/use of line)
- the technique I accidentally discovered of spray painting onto water/ink, which I utilize in almost every painting now
- I mentioned my problems with time management and organization of ideas in my head ( I usually have a lot of ideas floating around in my head but it becomes an obstacle sometimes, and I get stuck) and he suggested for me to think about taking a test for dyslexia. Also to book an appointment with someone from academic support about the time management. I did email them after. I do feel it’s getting better though, after coming to uni consistently every day for a week, I produced much more work than if I had just stayed at home, which encouraged me to do so in the future as well.
- recommended another film for me to draw inspiration from - Eraserhead - which I will definitely watch as it does look intriguing, a surreal b&w horror film.
- gave me artists to look at: kara walker + william kentridge, whose charcoal animations and style with the lack of color I am very fascinated by.
