With the resin coating done, I had the instinctive feeling to combine the frame with the big painting. The frame is actually smaller than the actual panel, so it sat on top of it, but I realise that I quite like that depth. Other people suggested for me to fill in the space with resin halfway, but I liked how sunk in the painting is now… I also feel that the details may be lost with such a thick coating of resin… but this is definitely an idea I could experiment with in the future.
At this stage I feel indifferent when I look at the painting because I’ve been looking at it for too long, but I feel that I overall like how it looks and the efforts I put in for it. I could have done more spray paint areas for that strange inky texture though, but I want the emphasis to be on the subject and text. I just hope the audience can feel the pain, desperation, fear, helplessness etc when they look at it. (Perhaps the text could help with this as well. )
